Atari was pretty close to scrapping the Alone in the Dark game when it was in the beginning stages of development. We all know the game is done now (albeit still vague on the PS3 version's release), so that didn't happen. But why was it almost canned? "Oh, please, no! Not another Atari retro title!" Those were the likely sentiments of gamers when finding out Warlords was coming to XBox Live Arcade. True enough, Atari does not exactly have a good reputation when it comes to retro titles on XBLA, but something is definitely different this time around, with Warlords.

Atari today announced that development is complete on the highly anticipated action survival game Alone in the Dark, and the game is on track to ship on June 24th in North America for Xbox 360, PC, Wii and PlayStation 2. The Playstation 3 version is scheduled for autumn 2008 due to a lot of development delays.

Atari today announced details of the âKeep the Fire Burningâ competition in the run-up to the launch of the game Alone in the Dark, and the top prize includes a week-long trip to New York or Paris. When one single game starts a genre of video games that title deserves at the very least our optimistic respect. Early last week Atari threw one hell of an event at Dogpatch Studios in San Francisco, CA to show off the latest build of their upcoming survival-horror game, Alone in the Dark. PlanetXbox360 was lucky to get invited and we walked away so excited about what this game is turning into.
