A UK prison has prohibited inmates from using Sony PlayStation 3 consoles, over the concerns that the device could help them in plotting “escape attempts” (ed: Prisons are so cosy now, that's unlikely). Yesterday it was Capcom with Street Fighter 3 Alpha, and now that other master of the re-release, Square Enix, has been outed as bringing Final Fantasy Tactics to the PSN. As always, this leak comes courtesy of the ESRB, with a new rating listing the game for a PS3 release. I was able to grab a quick 5 minute hands-on with Dark Void, Capcom and Airtight’s upcoming sci-fi title. We’ve all seen the trailers and screenshots, so it is known that, graphically, Dark Void looks good. However, I did notice that the game does have a bit of a pop-in issue. It did not bog down gameplay or affect the action, so it isn’t a huge deal - it’s just there. story details »

Games that get rushed out to tie in with movie releases are of a notoriously low quality, and often represent soul-crushing missed opportunities. While Terminator Salvation is a decent game, it could have been much better, and should be much, much longer. It’s a third-person shooter with a few on-rails shooter bits in vehicles. It might’ve been overshadowed by the flurry of new information, demos, and trailers released earlier this week thanks to Sony’s constant string of PSN updates from E3, but Trash Panic was released on PSN last night.
